After volunteering for many events over the years, I have learned that not only do people like to give, they also like to receive. Now what better way is there to do that, than by going to a party!
On this #GivingTuesday I am asking you to #MakeADifference to #JoinTheSolution by purchasing a ticket to a charity event for yourself or to give to a friend.
Allow me to explain.
A few weeks ago I took my mom to the 20th Annual JEB BUSH Florida Classic Beach Bash benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation held at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort.
Did you know that Cystic Fibrosis is a life threatening genetic disorder affecting the lungs and digestive system with currently no cure??? Neither did I. And I probably never would have remained clueless if I hadn’t gone to their event.
Upon arrival I ran into a dear friend of mine, Stephanie Wilson, who is the development director for the organization, and I was lucky to snag a photo with her.
Per the invite mom and I would “indulge in delicious food from some of the best local restaurants and dance the night away at the “sexiest party of the year!” There will be an open bar all night long, compliments of Premier Beverage, as well as hors d’oeuvres and live music! Enjoy dancing, drinks and dinner when you attend BeachBash, all for a great cause!”
That got me to thinking. What could be better to GIVE to a charity then by attending one of their parties?
Here’s the thing…. all of the different charity events offer….
a chance to taste foods from restaurants you may never even been too or knew about,
signature drinks concocted in various ways…
Music, which usually leads to dancing…
And a chance to “win” MORE GIFTS from their auction table! Which by the way is a great way to score gifts for other people in your life. Or for yourself, no judgment here.
There is usually something interactive as well. At this event there was a chance to win prizes with a few guessing games
Mom and I also had fun in the photo booth. Which let us leave with a great souvenir.
Of course, none of it would be happening with out help from their sponsors…
Make no mistake, these parties are FUNDraisers. Remember, the whole idea is to raise money for their cause! The press release for BeachBash stated “since its inception, the JEB BUSH Florida classic has netted nearly $7.5 million to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, thanks to the support of honorary chairman, Governor Jeb Bush, and dozens of sponsors and volunteers.” Now that’s some serious cash!
So open your wallets people and GIVE a charity your money for a ticket to their event and you’ll RECEIVE the best gift of all, making a difference in someone else’s life.
The fact that you get to eat, drink and have a good time…. well… that just makes the deal that much sweeter.
